The Colchester Chinese Cummunity School participated in a "Multiphony" workshop led by Jan Hendrickse. It was an intensive 6 weeks workshop, leading to a joint performance with other groups in the "Sounds of China" Concert. A piece of music was created, which not only involved traditional musical instuments, but also made good use of stones, water, paper and electric fans. This was a very special experience, which deserves recording and sharing; hence the creation of this web page.

We had a memorable experience in the workshop and concert. The intensity of the workshop brought out a lot of outstanding qualities from the group. Everyone paid full attention to details, and treated the music seriouly (Jan's professional attitude was quite infectious). We were lucky to be able to work with world-class musicians Will, Fiona, Clare, Martin and Rachel. What the audiance saw was limited to their wonderful performance; we had the chance to see their attractive personality as well. To play professionally, they must demand the highest standard from themselves, yet they showed tremendous patience towards our limited (and varied) abilities and mistakes. They were kind and friendly throughout the workshop. They probably saved all their frustration for the Ghost Opera -- Will told me that the Opera was part of the anger-management course :)
