A leaked report suggests that, inspired by the Home Office, Harrods is planning to crackdown on overstaying customers. Officials say it will be necessary to introduce checks on customers on their the wealth and desire to spend before they enter the shop. They will also be charged for a permit to enter the shop. Customers in the shop will be checked regularly and repeatedly to ensure that they are making progress towards purchases, and that they still have funds for purchases. Any customer who does not satisfy the shop's checking procedures will be asked to leave immediately.

"Harrods welcomes and encourages customers who wish to purchase at Harrods and does not wish to restrict their access per se. However, we will need to introduce some restrictions to ensure customers are genuinely intending to purchase after browsing", says the leaked document.
